Free Cooling
With a Verne Global data center, you can avoid using expensive chiller systems by taking advantage of free cooling, 365 days a year.
The mean temperature in Iceland is -0.5°C (30°F) in January and 13°C (55°F) in July. We put that cool air to use through highly efficient heat exchangers. As a result, we can handle power densities of up to 15 to 20 kW per rack using cooling from Iceland's ambient temperature alone. This compares very favorably with some data centers that struggle to accommodate densities as low as four to five kW – and even then, with high cooling costs.
Should you need higher-density racks, we can also provide customized cooling solutions, including close-coupled cooling or even naturally chilled water cooling, without the expensive chillers. Iceland has a continuous supply of naturally chilled water, perfectly suited for a water-cooled environment.
At Verne Global, environmental cooling and intelligent design allow you to reduce typical cooling costs by 80% or more.
