Design Options
Verne Global is currently implementing the first international data center facility based in Iceland. KEF101, the first of four building phases, is designed to take full advantage of Iceland's infrastructure and environment. The end product will be a data center facility that is 100% powered by renewable energy resources and 100% cooled by the natural environment of Iceland, without the use of chillers or compressors.
KEF101 offers dedicated, modular critical environment suites in either 375 or 750 square-meter sizes. Dependent upon density requirements, the suites offer the flexibility of being powered from 1.6 kilowatts per square meter to 3.2 kilowatts per square meter. The small suite accommodates up to 1.2 megawatts of fully redundant, UPS-protected power and the large suite accommodates up to 2.4 megawatts of redundant UPS power. Concurrent maintainability, core to Verne Global's state-of-the-art design, exceeds the Uptime Institute's Tier III standard for facility infrastructure. Require even more space? Verne Global allows customers to easily expand as their requirements for space and power beyond the modular suites. Our KEF campus allows for customized building solutions of up to 45,000 square meters and up to 140 megawatts of total renewable power.
Taking into consideration Iceland's unique year-round climate, Verne Global has centered the design of KEF101 around LEED Gold standards, with innovation in HVAC and adaptive reuse of the world-class facilities already in place. Each suite has a dedicated cooling infrastructure that takes full advantage of the favorable climate, allowing a customer to fully control its HVAC infrastructure. Our operations team will work closely with you to dial in the most appropriate settings for maximum PUE reduction based on your server infrastructure.
At Verne Global, the facility truly becomes part of your server infrastructure design. This integrated approach allows you to crank up your server infrastructure to the next design level, with cabinet deployments of 3-4 kilowatts per footprint all the way up to blade server deployments of 20 kilowatts per cabinet or greater. We provide support in integrated design of customer deployments, while providing the logistical support through our technical services team.
Verne Global is a full-service Icelandic solution. We have the relationships established on the ground and in the air to streamline your infrastructure deployment. Verne Global Customer Service is centered around logistical support for each step of the way – including design, sourcing, shipping, customs, transport, installation, network, testing and operations. We are ready and able to assist with each facet of your deployment cycle.
As a key asset in the Iceland Air Defense infrastructure, the Verne Global site is fully integrated into the existing terrestrial network infrastructure. Our integrated site provides direct access to all three of the country's high-throughput submarine cables. Our Network Logistics Team will work with your carrier to ensure that you have the pathway to connect your deployment with the world. Since we are completely and entirely carrier neutral, we are not only open to your unique carrier requirements, but are also incentivized to bring your carriers into the Iceland network infrastructure.
