Cost Management

Cost Management

While Verne Global can supply you with ample renewable power at an attractive price, we understand that you still need to use that power as efficiently as possible, and keep your TCO as low as possible. To that end, we offer a number of ways to maximise efficiency and reduce the cost of your data centre operations, across the board.

Free Environmental Cooling

At Verne Global, environmental cooling and intelligent design allow you to reduce cooling costs by 80% or more. Both our colocation and custom built facilities take full advantage of the ambient temperatures and low dew point found naturally in Iceland. As a result, both solutions are designed to use outside air exchangers 365 days a year, further ensuring you have not only a renewably powered data centre, but a highly efficient one.

If your power needs are in the megawatts and you are concerned about keeping higher-density racks cooled beyond the inherent free-cooling design, we provide customised solutions including close-coupled cooling or naturally-chilled water cooling.

Modular Design

The Verne Global campus offers both a bespoke and colocation facilities. If you require a MW or multi-megawatt data hall, Verne’s highly experienced team can assist with a design that best meets your density and cooling requirements. For those requiring co-location space, Verne Global has partnered with Colt data centre services to deploy Colt’s innovative Modular Data Centre at our campus in Iceland. Through detailed environmental modelling, the partnership has yielded a module that uses only Iceland's temperate climate for cooling with no supplemental cooling. This combined effort has resulted in a data centre that can only be implemented on the Verne Global campus. Verne Global believes that Colt’s “building block” design is of the highest quality and a solution that brings forth the benefits of traditional data centres.

Reduced Carbon Footprint

Far and away the best method of reducing carbon emissions is the use of zero-emission renewable energy. Since our electricity is 100% sourced from geothermal and hydroelectric power plants, the energy you use at Verne Global produces no carbon footprint. If you transfer 8MW of critical load power to a data centre here, you would save approximately 50,000 metric tons of CO2 annually. This is equivalent to a savings of hundreds of thousands of pounds annually if you were to purchase carbon offsets on carbon exchanges.
